Art
Staff Description
The art staff is part of the three deliberating staffs under the supervision of the Associate Editor and is therefore responsible in upholding literature in the university using visual arts as the primary medium. The staff is an operational, deliberating part of Heights and therefore shall be regarded as an arm of a publication, with its functions seen far and distinguished from that of an art club.
Editors' Duties
The Art Editor is responsible for the over-all management and performance of the staff. Part of the responsibility is the prudent choices of artworks (from either solicitation or through contribution) to best accompany the theme selected in a publication, promotion and/or event. The decisions made by the Art Editor must uphold and promote the arts and its development in the university. The Associate Art Editor is responsible for the technical aspect of art production. These include the organization of activities for art formation, monthly meetings, and other projects that may or may not involve other non-members of the staff.
Members' Duties
The staff is responsible for the screening and selection of artworks for the Art Gallery of the folio. Staff members are not required but are highly encouraged to contribute artworks for publication. These may include dividers, poetry illustrations and cover-material artworks when necessary.
The art staff is also tasked to work with the Secretary Generals and the Design staff in producing propaganda materials during recruitment week and materials for the promo board.
Using the internet as a promotional tool, the official website of Heights shall be developed and maintained by the art staff. It will be used to promote the organization by informing those outside Heights and the university about the organization's beginnings, as well as the organization's projects and concerns. The staff is expected to maintain and keep the website up-to-date with the help of the Editors from the different departments.
Upcoming Activities
Deliberation Sessions and Meetings
Deliberations will be held, as needed depending on the availability of art contributions. Meetings will be held at least once a month to keep the members informed and connected with each other and with the organization.
Talks and Workshops
An art formalist talk will be held to prepare the art staff for their task of deliberating art contributions. Other art workshops will be held to hone the art skills (both practical and critical) of art staffers as well as non-members of the organization.
Charity Workshop
Munting Sining formally started on December 2004 as part of the staff's charity workshop. For the succeeding years, one charity workshop will be required for the staff to provide artistic development not only to the financially gifted. For more details, look into the Munting Sining Website.
Art Forums
With the advent of the Heights Official Website, the staff will develop an internet-based forum that is open to all who are interested. Topics concerning art, art formation (anything related to the fine arts) will be posted every now and then to facilitate artistic learning not only to the staff. This will also be a venue for learning from other art enthusiasts and will hopefully develop contacts from other artistic fields.
Art Staff Bonding Sessions
Aside from the monthly meetings, the staff will have a venue to relax and have their creative juices out in a form of a bonding session. Each staff member must have a sketch pad or any artistic medium to bring on the day of the event. Everyone will be given time to create art depending on a set theme. Group sharing is also encouraged to provide other forms of learning aside from the formal sessions/workshops.
